Looking for Travel Trailer with Specific Features.

I'm looking at traveling the states with my wife for a few years full-time. No kids, no pets.

Most of the travel trailers I have looked at have showers or small bathtubs, I'd like to find one with a full bathtub/shower.

I'd also be looking for something that could handle cold weather.

I know both of these are kind of higher end and larger size features, but I was hoping to find something that might be otherwise fairly average (e.g. good quality, but not luxury) and smallish (e.g. no need for extra bedrooms or dining room; at least some form of kitchen, though not necessarily full).

Is anyone aware of any models out there that might be a fit for what I am looking for? Alternatively, any recommendations on manufacturers of custom built travel trailers?

Thanks!

  • I remember seeing some 5th wheel trailers that had what looked like a full sized tub at a recent RV show. Wasn't really paying attention to specific makes/models in the fivers, just looking at neat stuff. I agree with what others have posted about small water heaters, but I thought the extra room would be nice, even for just a shower - I'm a bigger guy and hate trying to get clean in a small shower.
  • Thanks everyone, this feedback is very helpful. I think we'll probably end up getting a travel trailer but occasionally staying in hotels, etc. when we really want access to a full bathtub.
  • I don't think you will find a full size tub but if a full size shower will work, look at the Starcraft/Travel Star Galaxy 286rlws.It has 36x40 shower..

  • Maybe you're not looking for a travel trailer. Instead looking for a really nice truck or large vehicle and then condo rentals across the untied states. It is not condo ownership but a rental club of sorts. I know someone who did this because they wanted certain amenities. Just another way of looking at things. Not for me personally, but to each their own.
  • just so you know howwill you take a bath in a rv with a real tube when it holds 50 gal of water and you only have a choice of 6 10 12 gal hot water heater.
Yea you can go with a insta heat system but im willing to bet you wont be happy with thecresults.
If it is hot soaks you want i suggest getting a portable hot tube that airs up and use
  • Unless you wan't to move up to a large DP, a trailer RV is not going to have those amenities. This is one of the few concessions we have to make for our hobby.
  • Unless you decide to go with a park model, I don't know of any campers that have full size bath tubs. Even if you customized one yourself, your still limited to only a 6 or 10 gallon water heater. Hardly enough to fill a full sized bath tub. (unless you enjoy cold baths!)
