Back in 2007, Fleetwood was going to revive the Terry brand as the "ultimate luxury travel trailer". We took delivery on our 2008 in Dec of 2007 and Fleetwood padlocked its plants in March of 2009. It has some very nice features, and at the time was one of the nicest TTs on the market. Manufacturing has come a long way in 8 years and I'm not sure it's nicer than the new ORVs.
Funny you say that.... It turns out Fleetwood became ORV! The Nash's bought the LaGrande plant and all the manufacturing rights, then put them on a proper frame and built a better a box.On May 13, 2009 Ron & Sherry Nash, owners of Northwood Manufacturing (Arctic Fox, Nash & Desert Fox RVs) purchased the Fleetwood Travel Trailer plant in La Grande, OR along with the rights to the Fleetwood travel trailer designs and prints.
- Majja13ExplorerI am a big fan of the outdoor rv' sit will be my next unit. I would suggest that you go to some late season shows if you can find any as well as go start looking at them at the dealers. Don't be afraid to crawl under them into cubby holes ect and look at build quality. Although it has not been mentioned or I missed it due you already have a vehicle to tow with? As TT in this size will pretty much require a 3/4 to 1 ton tow vehicle.
- BurbManExplorer IIWhen you are talking about "high end" or "luxury" you really need to zero in on what that means to you personally. Most folks think high-end means granite countertops, ceramic tile, oak cabinets, etc...The problem is all that stuff weighs many pounds. In a Class A diesel built on a bus chassis, weight is not really an issue. BUT, in the travel trailer market, the trend had been to build smaller, lighter trailers that can be pulled by smaller vehicles. Folks can use Mom's grocery-getter Tahoe or Expedition to safely pull a TT big enough for the family that doesn't weight 8000 lbs dry.
Saving weight means using more plastics, composites, etc. BUT that doesn't mean the unit needs to be shoddily designed and built. When I look at quality, I am looking at the design of the frame to be sure it has enough space between the GVWR and the dry weight so I can bring more than one pair of socks without overloading it. Tires, shocks, suspension, etc. Tanks and appliances. On the interior I look more at how things are put together rather than what they are made out of.
Bryan congrats on the new trailer, sounds like we think alike on how we view quality! Agree that Outdoors RV makes a quality product!! Unfortunately their closest dealer to me is 813 miles away....

Prior to the Terry, we had a 2002 Sunnybrook, who at the time was building arguably the best quality TTs on the market. When we went shopping in 2007, Sunnybrook's reputation for quality was terrible and they were out of business shortly thereafter. - MattDeerHunterExplorerAs for as HIGH END, My wife would like a travel trailer and I want a toy hauler NON 5th wheel for my Polaris ranger. I want to make her happy and find a toy hauler that's built sturdy with high quality interior. I hunt and fish we also have 3 dogs and 2 grown kids and hopefully future grand kids. My wife wants quality furniture w/ all bells and whistles w/choice of wood cabinets, bigger Frig, enclosed shower w/ porcelain toilet and walk around master bedroom w/ upgraded King or Queen bed with storage and possible outdoor kitchen and 4 Season Rated. We would be willing to pay up to $55K.

Forest River Aviator
Would this be considered a high end model?
Saw one at a dealer, looked nice but pricy. I have never been a big fan of forest river, but it looks like this one is high end. - GeoBoyExplorerLook at Arctic Fox TT's or Desert Fox toyhaulers.
- Big_KatunaExplorer IIAir Streams are not cheap. They are not luxurious. They are simple and built well.
No delamination and solid wood cabinets. If I remember, Chris Bryant has one with 150k miles on one. Try that with a mass produced balsa glue and plastic lite weight.
Sometimes less is more. - hddeckerExplorerThat's interesting, my comments seemed to have attached themselves to Cools response.

Is Airstream high end or just expensive?
Airstream is an over priced American Icon.
When I was a kid I was infatuated by the Airstream and knew one day I would own one.
I bought an '86 Airstream Sovereign, the first year that Thor Industries took control. I can only say that that that bulb was popped rather quickly.
thanks bgum
