I'll give you my experience and then move on. Our first ever trailer was a 7,000# dry that ended up about 8200# loaded.
Towed it with a Titan, Armada and F150 Ecoboost.
Traded it in after about 6-8 months (and took a financial bath on it) because I could never get comfortable towing it.
Bought a new trailer that was 6,000# dry and ended up 7200# - 7300# loaded, depending on how much beer I put in it.
World of difference.
Went from white knuckle to comfortable with the drop in weight.
if I had a half ton and was buying a bumper-pull, I would limit my search to trailers in the 6,000# dry weight maximum again.
