Like most everyone, we would like something that eliminates trailer sway and is relatively easy to hitch up. We don't want to spend a fortune but we want to buy something of quality that is safe and works well.
Obviously, the key word here is "eliminates". For that only the Hensley Arrow or Pro Pride will full fill that requirement. Yes, new ones are expensive, but you don't have to buy a new HA or PP, most used ones are just as good or can be reconditioned by just about anyone.
Probably 99% of those who say their DC, Blue Ox, Equil-zer work great, have NOT pulled a trailer equipped with a Hensley or Pro Pride. Those of us who have traded up to an HA or PP from the friction controlled units will tell you, to a person, how much more the HA/PP works better and more efficiently.
I picked up my HA for half the cost of a new one, and when I sold my TT, I sold the HA separately and sold it for MORE than what I paid for it. Try that with a Dual Cam or Equalizer. One more reason to buy the HA or PP.
Remember, friction based weigh distribution/sway control devices only try to control sway...both the HA and PP eliminate sway. If you've ever seen a TT get into a severe sway condition, you'll understand why people buy the HA or PP.
Granted, initially learning how to hitch up a HA or PP can be difficult. But with a little experience, you learn how to do it just as easily as any other device.
To each his own, but my safety and the safety of my loved ones are worth the $$ it cost.
