Yep, you really can't use that space inside the door for storage of any sort - It needs to remain clear for access.
Typically, a door isn't as well-insulated, air tight or water tight as a solid wall, either.
Not only does the door itself add extra weight, but now you've also got the weight of a second set of entryway steps.
agreed. that's why we focused on trailers with ONE door and full access to fridge, stove, microwave, dinette, bath, bedroom and pantry via the entrance door with the slide(s) IN. Great for rest stops, and when we want and easy and quick take off on the departure morning, we are hooked up, slides in, ready to go after a quick breakfast.
