Want to do a lot of trail running get a popup camper or pull a high clearance popup trailer. This is what everyone else does who is not clueless. Or remove the camper, run the trails, then come back and re-load the camper onto the truck.
Isn't one of the ideas of off-roading is pushing your vehicle near the limit regardless of whether it is a stock jeep, built jeep, or yes, even a truck camper?
I'm sure not clueless as I use to have a very well built Scrambler that would run any trail I wanted. No one is talking about running these type of extreme trails that require an well built off-roader, but are talking about getting off the beaten path and a bit more than ungraded forest service roads.
I got tired of running the extreme trails and not enjoying the sites. Plus the wife didn't want to go with me. So now I've downgraded the level of trails I do but carry a light weight hard side. It has been proven that the White Rim trail is very doable in a hard sided rig.
Even my wife was surprised at how much she can put up with trail riding when the end result are views like this for the night and not a street light in sight. Very unusual for the south east.

And the OP is trying to learn so he isn't "clueless". Whole purpose of being part of a forum - to share and learn.
