loosing old members

I’m one of the oldest here I think.
I do wish this site would get updated software... it’s like a visit to 1998.

It doesn’t really matter who posts the answer to the FAQ questions that are the most common posts here. Sometimes, it’s just the new to here people who answer. I don’t see that as a problem. I could have posted a TR about my last two trips that were each about 2 weeks, but I was short of pics. I’m not sure anyone would have loved a day to day accounting of what I did.

Don't do Facebook. Lots of people do and lots of people put personal stuff on there. For me, don't care for it. Same with Twitter. I leave Twitter for DJT.:p

Some of the rules that they enforce are to the letter crazy!!!! I did a big trip report on another area of RV.net and got told I had to change it or the moderator would take it down as there were parts that mentioned my business. Sorry but I am a photographer and I do that when traveling I did not try selling anything or advertising it was just mentioned that I have a photography business and I was shooting on the trip. I never had that issue on the TCer part of RV net.

I know a number of others that ran into similar issues and left as well. There is moderating then there are power hungry dictators. It is not worth my time when I am accepted on other forums I would rather be there.

You covered it there... Moderation can make or break any forum and on here, the moderation is sometimes suffocating.

I’ve just passed my 15 year anniversary date here.

Today’s RV.net is vastly different from my start here. There are many reasons for this.

One that that really is striking is my Buddy List. I added them as I found them to be interesting for some reason or another. There are 17 names, 16 no longer post, as near as I can tell, only one of them still posts, and rarely at that. I assume the 16 died, gave up, or major changes affected them.

There were more people, posting more frequently, in all the forums. That’s lost now. There was a wealth of knowledge, freely shared. Now gone. Today RV.net is a shell of what it once was.

But we still here, and the newcomers, carry on. It’s still a good forum, all things considered.

What is exactly a troll poster, that I see used regularly here?..Is it a poster on the TC forum that has never had a TC and know real world experience to share or is it just a term for a poster that just isn't agreed with on a certain subject by the accuser?

My take on some of the members leaving is they forgot to put there big boy pants on and realize it is the internet and we don't always get our way...

That's because you guys are fairly civil here. Not so much on other forums.

Photo posting has always been a pita here , yet there use to be more photos , so I don't think that is the driving force . We seem to have developed a core of experts who feel the need to post on every topic whether helpful or not . It is getting harder and harder to find posts worthy of reading . In the past replies were more thoughtful and on topic . Guess it's the natural cycling of all groups .

as an old member I rember when posting photos here was a pain but reasonalbly doable and every visit had something new to see it was so active because of the photos EVERYONE posted ,/how to', /trips familys we all shared big and small things it was as if it didnt have a pix it didnt happen and , i believe it drew all different rvers to this forum to see what" we"
discovered in our back/off road travels .Heck I even miss Beddows & his crew ,well sorta!::hh

If it helps you can block seeing a member by clicking on their name and select "block this member" You won't see that persons posts anymore.
