This was my exact thought initially, too. Sounds unlikely with the regular changes of fluid. It's like the guy who eats good and doesn't smoke dying of a heart attack at 50. But, of course, it's just a transmission :)
Sorry for the bad luck OP. Like others said, you could be in a worse place. I can just hear the call into work Monday morning.... "uh, yeah.... I'm not going to be in today.... I'm stuck camping" :)
