Lott Rot?

I was at a dealer a couple weeks ago and he told me that new 2013 models (that are on a competitors lot have lot rot) What ???
If it is new them it is under warranty and any leaks would be most noticeable especially if the unit is almost a 2 years old model.
All other items would also be covered on the Jayco 2 year warranty.
Would you buy a 2013 model if the price was right? I'm thinking offering no more than 40% off msrp as the dealer is most likely getting a huge rebate from the mfg>
Input most appreciated..

  • If it had the features I wanted, I would much sooner buy the one sitting on the lot. First the dealer will be motivated to give you a deal. Second it will still be covered under warranty, And lastly it has seen some weather and if you don't find damage, that would mean its a keeper. If a new unit comes in and hasn't seen weather you may not find out till after you buy and use it a bit. Yes it will still be under warranty, but I would much prefer the one that doesnt need to be fixed. JMO

I guess my only comment will be that I would not buy from the guy that made that comment.

Same here, I wouldn't trust that salesperson in any way.
  • Yeah, the dealer that said that was just trying to keep you from the other dealer's lot. Nothing wrong with a leftover new trailer.

  • Not literally rotting ....LOL....

"Lot Rot" is dealer slang for units that nobody wants to buy, either because they don't have a good floorplan, the right features, etc. In other words those units will sit there and rot on the lot before somebody will buy them....if the dealer is paying carrying costs on those units he is more than likely willing to write a killer deal so he can free up cash to get the new 2015's on his lot.

I would go and look, see if you could see yourself camping in one and what kind of a deal you can get on it. If not, you'll have a clear picture of why he hasn't sold them yet...
