Louder horns

For those of you that have installed louder horns (air horns etc.)where is the best place to install on your truck?

  • If you buy air horns, or train horns you will need to put 6" stacks in the bed. And maybe get the bull's anatomy to hang from your rear bumper.
  • I like the little Stebel Nautilus compact electric air horns. Distinct sound that get noticed much better than any stock OEM horn without being one of those giant train horns that make other drivers freak out. Reasonably priced and easy to mount.

    X2

Seems to me that a normal reaction to hearing a loud horn might be to apply the brakes. If the hearer is ahead of you that may compound the problem.
  • Behind the grill in front of the radiator, pointing down. Resonates off the pavement below and keeps the water out of the horns.
  • We mounted air horns in the van pointing down on the lower part of the radiator core support wall.

Not true. Because we have a red truck ;) people were always merging into our lane as if they couldn't see us. Since we got our motorcycle air horn (5 or 6 years ago) we haven't had any more of that trouble. Haven't actually had to blow it yet, but somehow it does the trick.

We also have it mounted in the right side of the engine compartment facing down.
  • Best to leave them in the garage and drive with the brakes and steering wheel.
  • I put mine through the factory fog light cutouts in the front bumper, perfect height for maximum effect.
