we have a low profile Thule that I like very much. That said, we also have a not-so-low Yakima box and I find myself preferring that one. It's lighter and less hassle to pack.
One thought - if you're unsure, out here cargo boxes are as common on Craiglist as June bugs in Texas. Perhaps buy pre-owned to lessen the sting if it doesn't work out?
