Lowered truck hitch, now hard to see it

I lowered the hitch on the truck to drop nose of 5er down (still have 6" gap), but now with the lowered hitch, it's difficult to see it when hooking up. Bad enough there's a headrest for center rear seat passenger, but not seeing the hitch is something else. Had to get out and see where things were lining up as I have to hook at a slight angle w/ 5er.

So what do others do in this situation?
  • You can also raise the hitch back up and then raise the pin box, that will have the same effect to level the fiver, but keep the hitch head more visible.
  • Not only did we remove the headrest, we put 2 pieces of yellow tape on the hitch plate and one on the edge of the folded up truck bed cover...DH backs right in....using the single piece of tape between the doubles...easy peezy every time!
  • When hitching up I can't see my 5th hitch either. So I sit up higher in the seat and turn and look over my shoulder. Only need to raise up about 2-3"
  • I too removed the center head rest. I have no need for it.
  • Yep. Same here. First time hooking up I realized that it had to go. Nobody ever sits there anyway.
