Here are some facts:
1.) In most cases RV Manufacturers put the lowest possible cost tires on the RV that might be close the actual needs. "Might" being the operable word.
2.) Then place a required tire placard on the RV that makes it extremely difficult to put reliable tires on the RV.
In our case Montana put China Bomb ST tires on the 5th wheel that failed in less than 3 years and 10,000 miles. Actually went through two sets of the China Bombs before we finally got smart. But the 5th wheel had 6,000 lb axles and 16" 3500 lb rated ST tires. And stated so on the placard. Now try to buy good LT tires to meet that weight rating of the ST tires for 16" rims. Can't be done. LT tires have a weight rating of 3,040 lbs in this size which are entirely appropriate for 6,000 lb axles. The 3,040 lb rated LT tires are at least 5 times better tire than the 3500 lb ST Tire.
We put Bridgestone Duravis R250's on and haven't looked back. ST tires are just plain not reliable on the heavier trailers.
