And yes, if you look at them, the GY G26 has an almost identical tread pattern to the Kumho 857. Both of those tires are marketed for vans, trucks and trailers in UK, Europe and Pac rim countries.
And yes FE, I do understand there are other considerations in tire construction beyond tread design.
It makes sense to me that Good Year would not market the G26 for trailers in the North American market, considering they also make the Marathon ST tire. One would simply be stealing sales from the other. As an example though, Kumho does not make a ST tire, so it makes perfect sense to market the 857 as suitable for trailer use.
EDIT: ....and with that, I'm done. We've been over this all a million times, and all we really know for sure is that no one here is going to change their mind about how they view this whole subject. The most surprising thing to me is ... I can't believe I let myself get suckered into this discussion .... again...:)
