When if ever has anyone posted ANY study conducted by ANY known authority that supports the Popular Position that "any LT is better than every ST"? Never that I've seen, and I've been following these discussions for a long, long time. It's my opinion that such studies/analyses/fact-based conclusions are nonexistent.
I'd love to be proven wrong in that regard, so if anyone has the goods, let's see them. Standing by, ready to Eat My Hat....
I don't think anyone in the tire industry or regulatory community will ever judge one completely different tire design against another completely different tire design. For them, what would be the point?

The link I posted is one example of exactly such a circumstance.
An "LT" is a different design from a "P". So different, in fact, that LT's are excluded from the requirements of the UTQG program. This despite the fact that the vast majority of such tires are installed on vehicles primarily used for passenger transportation.
And for those armchair experts who think that exclusion makes no difference to the consumer, here's a question:
Under whatever standards of testing that you think LT's ARE subject to (thus making them for some so far superior to ST's), what's the speed limit standard they have to meet?
I think the answer to that question will come as a surprise to most. Provided of course that anyone bothers to actually look it up.
