As an aside, I got approval from Crusier RV to fit Kumho LT ( commercial ) tires to my funfinder. I also got approval from both Tredit ( wholesaler of Sendel wheels at the time ) and Sendel, to use 65 psi, LR D tires on the wheels that were fit from the factory on this camper.
Seems to me that an answer to this dilemma of ST vs. LT lies in what GMW Photos did:
1. He used a LT (commercial) tire approved by the tire manufacturer (Kumho) for trailer use.
2. He got approval from the trailer manufacturer (Cruiser RV) to use the Kumho tire on the trailer.
3. He got approval from the wheel distributor (Tredit) and wheel manufacturer (Sendel) to use a load range D LT tire on the wheel.
Assuming that these approvals are all in writing, he did exactly what the ST proponents recommend, that is, using a tire approved by the tire manufacturer for trailer use, and approved by both the trailer and wheel manufacturers. This is significantly different than what many of the LT proponents seem to recommend: using a LT tire even when the tire manufacturer hasn't specifically approved it for trailer use, and/or the trailer manufacturer hasn't approved it.
