Here is another view on the subject: RVTravel emag. Not exactly written in a crystal clear manner but he is saying, I think, that most ST OEM tires are operating too close to the load capacity of the tire unlike most trucks.
The main problem as I see it is a matter of cost. Many times I have seen ST tires marketed as an "affordable solution to your trailer tire needs" Or a "cost effective tire"
There really is not much of a good, better,best hiarchy when it comes to STs. The Endurance which is the present favorite of the ST crowd (there have been quite a few) Is around 99.00 from what I have read here. My Michelin XPS RIBS are about 240.00.. The only thing they have in common is they are round and hold air.
In some respects it is the consumers fault. From the manufacturers wanting the cheapest possible tires (or anything else on a TT)
to the owners that seeing how little they actually use the TT compared to their daily driver, and are loath to spend any more than they have to.
