A 2"X 10"x 12"long works well to put down first then your plastic blocks.
I am lucky, parking on level asphalt, yep, I would definitely put something under the blocks if I was on gravel or dirt to make sure they were darn level.
Got to say the Happijac 4560's work perfectly, remote control, how cool is that!
