I've refurbished a few old campers and I had a dinette table mount from a 60's Shasta laying around.I mounted the male side to my camper above where the high pressure propane outlet is. The mount was well sealed and is backed by 2 inch washers on the inside under my counter area.Then I laminated a pre-cut 18" x 48" board I got at Lowes for $15..Just lightly rounded the front corners so they are not sharp. I installed the female side of the Shasta table mount as well as shelf brackets to the underside of the shelf.Now I can insert the table in to the mount from the front at an angle and as it lowers to level it locks in to place.The shelf brackets rest against the side of the camper and provide support as well..This provides a nice outside space for our Coleman stove with leftover space for a tray of food, seasoning, etc..I drilled a hole in the table so the propane lead to the stove can come up through.

That is nice looking! Do the shelf brackets have rubber or cloth backing to protect the side of the camper?That was one of my issues with our RV-Q grill that came with our TT - I was never happy with that "bracket" that seemed to be just screwed into the side of the TT.

That is so smart! Why can't the manufacturers offer something like that?

I snug a folding table right against my TT, and cook on it. I don't like to ever cook inside my TT. Never have a problem with grease/food getting on the side of the trailer. I'd rather have the mess/odors outside, rather than inside! It's a lot more fun to cook outside, and watch all the goings on, anyway.

Thats us. Unless it's storming real hard we cook outside.
No smell in the trailer, and the smell from cooking drives other campers mad.
Things like a 'Low Country Boil' smells up the whole campground.
Everybody seems to walk by to see whats for dinner.

we hang a RVQ on the side of our hybrid. no smoke or grease but tons of flare ups.

My former PU had that bracket from the factory to move the stove cabinet outside. I added another to mount a 4'x2' counter with sink, resulting in an 'L' shape outside galley area. Add a mini fridge, toaster oven and coffee maker. Never had any issues / concerns for side of camper (canvas) as the stove cover / backsplash worked fine.

Nice work! If you have some laminate left over, consider adding a 1x2 under the front and sides to increase the thickness to 1 1/2" and laminating the front and sides. That bare wood on the front edge is never going to stay clean over time if you're cooking there. Would also suggest some rubber or felt rub strips on the backs of the shelf supports to keep the side of the trailer from getting scratched.

What kind of grill is that?

Veddy veddy nice and smart thinking. Bookmarking this thread cuz it's the type of cooking I really prefer to do. Were I to have my way only the nuker/convection oven would be inside.

GREAT idea! You might want to get some large heat shrink rubber to go over the brackets where they rest against the wall, or some type padding to prevent scratches

Great DIY!! LOVE the red you chose-looks great! I myself do not think you will have any issue with cooking that close to your trailer side. There may be the occasional splatter, but I am sure it would wipe up perfectly fine if done right away.

I like it. I do agree that you need something between the shelf brackets and the side of the camper to protect it. If your frying something on there that splashes-smokes up the side of the camper over the built in grill back splash you might want to re think your dietary habits. IMHO. But, maybe that's just me and my doctor's opinion.
