We met with Randall at Host today and toured the factory. The factory is a reasonably small set of warehouses, each with their own facet of construction. It was super cool to see the campers in the various states of construction. It is definitely a busy place. Cool to see so many people gainfully employed building semi-custom campers. FWIW I have a reasonably keen eye for quality construction being in the building trades. These guys do a nice job.
In this thread I expressed concern about a camper we saw at a dealer with some delam. He was all over that. They had a small batch of slides that were done by hand at their factory that weren't right. He knew about them and already had a count and someone working on repairs.
Randall was pretty flexible with how we could order the camper. We spent about 2 hours talking and putting together a build list that we then sent out to 4 dealers for pricing.
HOST is sold out to about a year, but that's just orders that haven't been spec'ed out. It should be sometime in November or possibly December before we would take delivery. Which is fine. We haven't been home for a while and need some time anyway to get the house ready for sale or rent.
We should be locking up our Mammoth here in the next few days once we choose a dealer and negotiate the price.
Cheers. :)
