The short answer is :
Maxxis tires are not better .
The only place that Maxxis tires are held in high regard is with a few very vocal cheerleaders on this forum .
Maxxis has 19 reported failures on this forum.
Maxxis passenger car tires have ranked in the lowest 25 % in tire tests performed by Consumer Reports in the November 2012 issue and the November 2013 issue .
Do a search for Maxxis tires .
This low volume producer now has enough ST tires sold that the recent reports are failures .
The Goodyear and Carlisle brand tires have been in place for decades .
The Maxxis are very recent .
