With the weights and usage described, I'd look for an LT tire in that size.
FWIW, I recently replaced 15" tires on a 5K lb. rig. I had looked at all of the positive reports on the Maxxis brand and the construction differences involved. I could not fit my first choice, a 15" LT tire because of clearance issues. I decided to get Carlisle Radial Trail RH in load range D. Carlisle is now including a cap ply in the construction of that tire, similar to the Maxxis brand.
