Try the other roads in New Zealand, they are as almost as bad, as that other extremely steep street in Wellington, that goes to the top over looking the harbour. NZ seems to have a staggering number of very steep roads. They certainly would be dropping gears on them. I actually walked down and up Baldwin, there is a similar street in Hobart Tasmania
