From Automobile Magazine, some numbers on Pickup production. The U.S. makes or will make 2 million Pickups overall this year. So far Globally it is 2.3 million , the segment is just beginning to grow. Some errors there is no GMC, Chevrolet and Holden are the GM name plates. Their is no Fullsize outside NA, except maybe Brazil and Central America. Midsize and I Tonne Pickups are not the same and do not have the same functions. No mention of the large markets in China or India. Mercedes were looking at over 100, 000 Units
The worldwide take rate for midsize trucks is about 2.3 million units per year. The longtime leader of the pack is Toyota, which sells roughly 700,000 of its Hilux/Tacoma twins. Next in line are Nissan, Isuzu, Ford, and GMC. The recently launched Volkswagen Amarok managed to secure a 3 percent stake of the action. At this point, Mercedes won’t talk numbers, but even optimists are struggling to forecast more than five figures in the short term.
