Metal storage cover

West Coast (West Coast Metal Buildings)is just outside of Salem.. probably one of the biggest suppliers of the inexpensive car ports.

I couldn't even think about buying the materials for less than they will show up and install the entire thing.

They work; sometimes ugly, sometimes they fit the area. A bit utilitarian. We're probably going to throw another one up for the camper. Great deal/value for the dollars spent.

FWIW I was looking at metal canopies a few days ago. The installed price was very reasonable.

I've seen several in our area that have held up for years under heavy snow loads, and they are in excellent condition.

And the metal Canopy can be dismantled and moved.

I wouldn't build one unless you're concerned about aesthetics. I'd go with the metal canopy and have then dealer install it.

Make sure you don't have set back restrictions where you live.

I had a VersaTube metal structure installed 10 years ago and it is nice. Yes, make sure it meets your towns building codes. Mine will handle a 65 lb. per sq. ft.snow load in a 90 mph. wind load. My town only allows 1 garage structure per home without going thru variance proceedings, so my building inspector decided to call it a picnic pavilion, due to the fact that I didn't close the ends and only brought the metal siding down only 6'.

I used Carolina Carports for my Camper Cave...

If you are really serious then I would recommend the following.

13 ft legs minimum ... Easy to work on the top of the camper when off the truck... And the camper/truck on 4wd should fit with the closed gable ends.
14 wide minimum
25 ft long minimum... My camper and truck is 20 ft... I wish I would have gone with 30 ft.

Get vertical siding and vertical roof..

Water runs off easily on the vertical roofs along with snow. Vertical sides do not collect dirt and moss etc with vertical sides. Easier to clean too.

Here's mine.. Wish I would have got the vertical roof and sides. Did not know about that option.



I just finished a new Metal workshop 25x30... Insulated, 13 ft walls 2 roll up doors... 16x12 and a 8x7... I ordered it from United Carports. I notice that they are in Oregon too...

3 day installation.... The install team was outstanding! Not saying that in other states the service will be as great..

If ordering you need to understand all the segments of the configuration/build. I added full certification, thus the plans were included for permits if needed or wanted. Heavier steel wind/snow ability. Would be glad to help... PM me if you need pointers.

I originally had 2 of tarp garages put together for my 40' conversion.
To raise the garage roof, I bought fence pipes and pound them into ground well enough to withstand winds. Clamps that also come from fence system hold the desired level.
The tarps deteriorated in couple of years, so I put thin metal roofing with self-drilling screws on it.
It's been working like that for 10 years.
The coach on the picture is gone and my camper now sits ther.

Just to clarify, there was a huge problem with "Northwest Metal Buildings" out of Hillsboro and they are not West Coast. West Coast has had their problems, but probably nothing like the sub installer (Northwest). I suggest that many have written 'reviews', such as on Yelp, and flagged the wrong supplier. Kinda like the link you pasted that is for Northwest. Just FYI, West Coast cut them off years ago.

Shop around; the industry is a bit flakey. It's low ball for sure, but as in most of life, you can have two of the three; speed, quality or price. Pick your poison.

Took them a while to get up here to install it (they need several orders for an area), but once they were here, they installed it in a day. It's 33' x 13' with 12' legs. It wasn't cheap because I went with several upgrades and custom sizing. I've had it 3 years, and no complaints.

Well, one. I needed to notch the front gable to get my TC in (had a TT before). I want to reinforce the notch with another section of their tubing, but it's proprietary (2.25" galvanized). Can't find it anywhere, and they charge $50ish for the metal and $150 service fee to get me an 8' section. So I need to come up with another plan.

Them being local to you should make getting your RV cover a snap.

I used West Coast. I'd use a tarp before I used them again. They're shady, always a different story why my building wasn't done. It took a little over 4 months to get my building. Best reason I heard was there was a metal shortage in the country so they couldn't get the sheet metal.. I got my building very soon after I called BS on that because I purchase direct from a sheet metal mill who actually has a mill that makes the formed roofing material.
