I saw on a previous post a recall for some tires. I have the Michelin LTX A/T2 LT 275/70 R 18 tires on my vehicle.In the past month my warning light has come on twice ,reminding me of low pressure.Yesterday I saw the tire was low again, this is two wks. later. Today it's down even lower than in the past times. I have taken tire off & could not find any (nails-slits-cuts) obvious sings of damage. Manufacture date on tire is 1113, and they have 5k miles roughly. Has anybody else been having any issues with these tires. Thanks in advance, K

Not necessarily the tires. Could be the valve stems, valve cores, or the wheels.Wayne

Remove the wheel and put it in tub of water to see if you can find air bubbles leaking out. In addition to the valve stem, it could also be a small puncture in the tire, leak at the tire bead or a crack in the rim.

Check with Michelin...see if yours are part of recall.Course the possibility exists that you have a leak from valve stem, nail/screw etc.

There are currently two Michelin light truck tire recalls, one from July 2013 and one from December 2013. Your size doesn't appear on either recall. Every time I've had a slow leak there has been a screw or a nail in the tread of the tire. Sometimes you can only find them from the inside after the tire is off the wheel if you don't have a big enough tub to put the tire into looking for bubbles.Brian

Did your tires look like mine? BTW, my mileage was almost exactly like yours.

My cracking may be more linear, about an inch or so in length. These sidewall cracks reside mostly between the Marque Lettering and the rim edge, where most of the flex occurs. Some, I can see through to the white (lettering) underlayment....Tread wear is not the issue. Dealer says "mostly cosmetic"...

I'm a bit disgruntled towards Michelin tires. I paid a premium price when replacing my 235/80x17 OEM dually Generals with Michelins, now with about 35k miles on them only to have the sidewalls cracking??...Dealer will pro-rate them, but the adjustment is a fraction of replacement cost, and says the cracking sidewalls is mostly cosmetic...I can remember a time when the extra cost of Michelins was justified.

If you cannot find the leak, air the tire up to 20-30 pounds more than the max inflation cold. This will not hurt the tire as it is only a temp increase in pressure. You should be able to find the leak with some soapy water as you slowly rotate the tire.

i just used this procedure on my wife's suv. It was shown to me by a tire mechanic that repairs big truck tires. I was unable to find a leak in one of my truck tires and this worked.

Your tires are not part of the recall.
Luckily mine are! I hope to get 6 new tires for free in January. My tires have given great service for over 50,000 miles but I'll take a new set.

A bad seal between wheel and tire is very common, they use soapy water as a lube when mounting tires. I bring a tub of grease and insist they smear it on the wheel and tire bead areas and I never have slow leaks, think of it like this... an internal combustion engine could not have adequate compression without motor oil on cylinder walls and piston rings.

I have the same truck and same tires. One of my wheels is porous, IE it leaks through the metal of the wheel. When I put new tires on a month ago, the problem went away. The tire guys at Sams put some sealer on the wheel.
