GAME CHANGER:
I went back to the place where I actually bought them. They contacted Michelin and I will be getting 75% credit on these tires, not too bad for 29,000 miles and three years old.
Bingo!!! I wonder if the other dealer you dealt with is an authorized Michelin dealer? My BF Goodrich tires were warranted based on treadwear but I never bought them from the dealer when I brought them in cracked as such, but still got the coverage. Either way...good thing it worked out. I now drive about 20K miles a year, so we'll see if they crack in 3 years, and at that point they will have 60K plus miles....
The other was, the same name company with an "O" in the name, hint, hint. Seemed to me being independently owned the first saw I did buy them there. I don't agree with that customer philosophy but I did get results and so far I am pleased. Just need to take them there on Saturday to get the install and I do have the quote to boot.
