I actually run Firestone Winterforce LT's year around. They are studdable but of course I don't run studs. A little noisy but excellent wet weather traction and stiff sidewalls for less squirm and they have around 40K on her SUV and still have quite a bit of tread left.
I mount my own tires and the carcasses are pretty well balanced from the factory. I needed minimal adhesive weights to get the perfectly in balance.
Winterforce tires are made in Canada btw.
I had TA/KO2's previously and I was unhappy with the way the tread started chunking after some miles on them. Much more expensive compared to the Firestines as well. Dismounted them and gave them to the guy down the road for his kid's 4x4. I'm into recycling....
The KO's took some serious weight to balaace as well (I run forged Alcoa rims) and the rims are dynamically balanced at the factory so it's not the rim that cause the imbalance, was the tire...
