MidWest Truck Camper Christmas in Branson, MO. Dec. 2013




The Midwest Truck Campers Christmas Gathering in Branson, Missiouri Dec. 4th- 7th, 2013

Its Christmas time in Branson, Missouri

For you Northern States people how does 65 degrees sound to ya in December!


I have a place all picked out that will be very accommodating for us, & they would take care of everything for us.

If you choose to come and just sleep in your T/C and keep it winterized that's fine.

They have a Very nice and newly remolded Bath and shower.



BTW - I've been in Branson the last three winters and temps averaged in the 65 degree area during the day.

It only snowed once while there and it was maybe 1 inch & it melted in a hour or so.



As of now the Tentative Schedule will be

Arrival on Dec.4th

Dec. 5th -1 show "The Dutton" $26 per person

Dec. 6th - 2 shows, "Hank Williams Revisited" $?? don't know yet.

"Christmas on the Trail" with a chuckwagon
supper. Plus a tour of the "Trail of Lights"
$34 per person

Dec. 7th Bring a $15-20 Christmas gift that you would buy for yourself to use in your T/C. We all will exchange gifts. Example- paper plates, forks, spoon, paper towels, windshield washer fluid, TP, a can of tuna, loaf of bread, toilet chemical packs, etc. Combine a few to make it $10-20Just a fun thing. Don't forget to wrap it. This would be stuff you'd buy to use for yourself, so we're not really out any money in the long run.

I have made the decision on requesting

a sign up deadline date of November 10th

to let me know if you are attending.

I need to get a head count in order to get tickets. You can still come but you'll pay full rate for tickets and run the risk on not getting a seat.

We need 15 plus adults for discount.

The Group savings will average in the 30% savings per ticket.

Most tickets will be in the $20 - $40 per person.

    Sharon and I would like to throw our thanks to Doug and Tammie plus Katie for putting together the gathering. Even though the weather was not the greatest the company sure was great and made up for it. We came home the same route as Jumbojet and the roads were not in very good shape. Seen a lot of vehicles that had just gone into the ditch and this was on Saturday afternoon a day after the storm was over. I540 was almost a parking lot heavy traffic and hardly moving.

    We are also ready for another trip but would like to have a little warmer weather at least 50* preferable. This was a test for our camper to see if it would handle the cold weather or not. I had it winterized before we left but I unwinterized it and we used the shower and all of the facilities in it. I had added some additional insulation in the dump valve area and the outside shower (this is going to be disconnected by next spring and capped off). Also the power cord area had extra insulation added (I think this is also going to be converted to a outside plug cord setup and close off this door). I have sensors in the dump area and never seen it go below 40*. Even at that my water tank drain valve seemed to freeze up some. With a little help for my wife's hair dryer it operated with no problem. If I wanted to I could keep the camper at/or above 75* in the camper with an electric heater and with a little fan running and blowing air into the basement it stayed at 42* for the time I was testing it. I took along a small 120VAC compressor and a gallon of anti freeze so drained the water heater bypassed it and blew out my lines and then pulled in the pink stuff. So it is winterized again.

    Then came home and after unloading supplies from the camper started shoveling snow and finished it today.

    Made it home from the rally. We had a good time and are ready do to the next one - in warmer weather. US65 in Missouri was 95% clean of snow and ice. As soon as we hit the Arkansas border it was packed snow for the next 70 miles. A 4500 lb. camper (with at least 500 lbs. of ice on it) on a 4x4 RAM 3500 DRW was NO problem.

    Home and ready for a cleaning.


    Thanks Doug for planning this. We had 5 very brave couples (and Katie) that made it and stayed.

    After I heard about the weather coming I thought about driving down from lincoln ne and crashing your rally. My truck camper is made for the cold it would have been a nice testing ground. The weather makes for a adventure you all won't forget!!!

    A great show was enjoyed by the 6. We followed that up with a great potluck supper. I ate Doug's portion and mine.

    Ice, sleet and snow guess I sure picked the best time of the year to have a gathering. It was 73 degrees yesterday, 19 degrees today, -4 on Saturday night. Could have close to 12 inches of snow before the whole thing is over. Three couples made it to one of the shows today, probably will be snowed in for the rest. To top it all off Doug got the stomach flu, yippee. Good thing truck campers know how to have potlucks, we will probably be stuck inside playing cards and having soup.

    You definately won't want to return to Iowa anytime soon,lol. Sounds like a fun time. See a few shows for me!! Branson is a really fun place to visit.

    We have 5 rigs here, brave souls with the impending ice storm heading our way.
    We will all have fun together no matter the weather.
