^ Every time I hear a story about that it brings a tear to my eye, because I think of my dearly departed dad...
He wouldn't buy a 4x4 if you paid him to. "I can take that truck of mine anywhere a 4x4 goes. Only posers and people who can't drive need a 4x4!" God I miss him! (And he was mostly right, I'm still utterly surprised some of the places we had mom's Buick that most people wouldn't go without a truck or a jeep.)
Personally I like not having to put weight in the back of the truck to get out of the driveway (not that it happens more than once a year here maybe on the dumb side of the state) and not having to chain up and down 3x a day in certain conditions. And then there's the times when no amount of good driving or chains would get a 2wd where I want or need to go. But that's avoidable if you don't want or need to go there...
I understand. 4wd is not a right or a necessity, but neither are indoor plumbing and gas stoves, but they sure do make taking a ____ or making breakfast more comfortable and easier. Isn't that what 4wd does??
