Wow..I had a big ole reply all but typed out to each of your comments and must have hit the wrong button and the page disappeared...LOL
S0,this is short..The most rigs in the ditch around here are 4X4's and people who don't have a clue how to drive in the snow..I have never seen a place the 2WD service truck could not get one way or the other logging in snow or whatever.
The UPS trucks are all 2WD and deliver to some of the most remote snow bound towns in Idaho..Some of our City snow plows are 2WD dump trucks with a plow on the front with just one axle..All the school buses are 2WD dually's and last but not least, none of the logging trucks are 4X4 but to be fair, some have lockers for the dual rear axles but it's still just the rear wheels pushing and nothing pulling like the front axle and they go just about anywhere...
So my reply was to living in the PNW you need a 4X4..No you don't if you know how to drive the mountains and have good tires with weight in the back...
The average guy with a TC does not go off road as in rock climbing..The average guy with a TC does not need a 4X4 pickup to haul that TC..There are people out there that should never leave the house in snowy bad weather regardless of there rig and the PNW news shows it every night..(laughing) Krem 2 Spokane our local news station.
I lived in McCall Idaho close to 40 years where we had to shovel out the windows for the light to get in and it got to 30 below regularly and diesels would not run (pun intended)..It was a way of life..Now we just get a couple feet here but it did snow this month in July..
All in fun huh....
