Mildew or Mold on Window ledge.

I have a 1999 Wilderness 24' TT. I have mold or mildew on most of my window rubber or vinyl seals/ledges. We bought it used and have done some upgrades on the inside and just looks dirty. Is there any way to get rid of or do I need to replace them. How easy is it to replace and is it a universal seal sold by the foot or TT specific. Thanks

  • I had the same problem on the outside. I used Mold Armor I got at Lowes. It worked well.
  • Thanks for the replies. I thought about painting it with Krylon plastic paint that would be the easiet I think.
  • Damp Rid also makes a mold killer/remover spray that is safe on fabric - and on hands so it should not hurt the rubber around the windows.

There are two different kinds - both work well. The one is a stain remover/blocker also... Google Damp Rid or Mold Rid and you should find it.
  • We have a 2000 wilderness and had the same problem. Cleaners did not work and we didn't want to replace all the molding. We taped off all the windows and painted the molding with krylon fusion spray paint. Looks great and is holding up well.
  • Home depot sells a product ( Coroban) or some name similar that works. Spray it on, let it dry and wash up the surface.
  • It is a very common issue. Bleach or bathroom cleaner might work but if the staining is too bad you will have to replace it or live with it.
  • Or possibly some type of bathroom cleaner or other that specifically is for mildew and use a toothbrush to clean with. Be sure to cover areas nearby and wear some safety glasses.
  • You could try water with bleach in it. If that does not work then replacement is likely the fix. Also, after the fix you need to make sure that your RV has ventilation so you can prevent it.
