As many have said changing to a shorter trailer won't get you significantly better mileage. Your best bet would be to get a more efficient tow vehicle if you can afford it, or as you noted, get a Trailmanor. Projected frontal area is the biggest component of drag that in turn burns up your fuel. The Trailmanor will have a frontal area that is almost in the shadow area of the truck and you will likely see the gains you are hoping for.
