Mind the gap
Hey all, just wanted to share a simple but very effective “mod” I did on our 2018 AF 990. Neither my girlfriend nor I are a fan of large gaps in bathroom doors in RV’s which is something we always seem to see in certain floor plans. We were very happy to find our Arctic Fox has a sliding door into the rear wet bath rather than a standard hinged door, granting us access to the bathroom while the slide is in. However because of this design there is about a 1 1/2” gap between the back side of the door and the wall on which it hangs. This might seem trivial to some, but it matters to us newbies. Something about being able to make eye contact with my gf while she’s on the bed and I’m on the toilet didn’t feel right to me.
I got the idea to insulate this gap with two overlapping foam strips. Pretty self explanatory as you can see in the pictures below.
The two strips “smoosh” together just a bit when the door is closed, and having one on each side closes up the gap completely. I think the foam was about $7.50 at Home Depot, so all in all, cheap, simple, and effective!
