Mistaken ideas about how a diesel engine works

I've seen a lot of grumbling as of late about the power output of new diesel engines. These same people complain and ask why the manufactures have to run the power up so much and why don't they work...

All good, except the smog stuff added in 7.5+ killed mileage until DEF was added later, and some of it came back. So the fuel mileage improvements we want are centered around improvements in how the smog stuff works. Tuning of the engine to run at lower RPMs with higher final ratios. AKA the SRW RAMs with 3.42 gears, yet a low first and second to get a load moving if one gets the 3500/Aisin. Chris
