Mistaken ideas about how a diesel engine works

I've seen a lot of grumbling as of late about the power output of new diesel engines. These same people complain and ask why the manufactures have to run the power up so much and why don't they work...

Everyone thinks I am nuts but I will say it again....
Manufacturers are up against a wall on economy and emissions.
The real improvement will be a hybrid with a smaller diesel (300hp?) and battery/electric boost for another 200 to 300 hp.
