A lot of the time it is a delay in getting parts. I've had a lot of those days with my Ram too. If it's not driveable you should have an equivalent loaner vehicle and should still be able to camp. I would argue with FCA (and have) to get a replacement vehicle that met my needs. You shouldn't have to cancel anything. If they haven't given you a loaner and say you can drive it, go camping. It's under warranty.
That time frame sounds like the transmission valve body. Was it shifting funny or giving little jumps in RPM? That's what mine did. One of 4 transmission failures/rebuilds.
I'm currently in talks to trade for a new diesel truck. The incentives are crazy right now and they are offering more than I paid in trade.
