Some of the smart a$$ comments in this thread make me go :S.
OP I'm happy to hear you got the code cleared, hopefully it doesn't come back and you can take your trip.
I agree that it sounds like the dealer likely could have done better. I certainly wouldn't be in a rush to trade the truck; as much as my Ram has had a couple of minor issues that were quickly taken care of by my dealer it has been a great truck overall. And my previous Fords all had issues too; my 1996 F-250 was in for several times for a pinion seal leak and on about the third time I kicked up a storm that led to the dealer determining that the rear axle housing had been improperly machined and needed to be replaced. It was fine after that.
The main thing is that the issues get properly dealt with and then move on.
