My truck is out of warranty, and yet the dealer still provides me a loaner. Does this "cost me" ? Well, of course it does.... it adds cost to all the customers who take their cars to this dealer for service. I'm good with that. I would rather pay a little more, not only for the excellent service work I get from this dealer, but also to have this perk of a loaner available when needed.
All I was trying to point out in my earlier post was that it's ( IMO ) good customer relations for a dealer to take care of their service customers. It keeps people coming back, and it also mean satisfied customers will recco that dealer.
In other words, my dealer service dept knows I need a truck to pull my horse trailer or my travel trailer. They do what is needed to keep me a happy customer. I even take my daughters Toyota to this Nissan dealer for oil changes and such, because I want them to know I value their loyalty to me.
To take this back full circle, to the OP, in my mind, your Moab trip was not canceled due to poor Ram QC, it was canceled due to a poor dealer service department.
