I bought the truck in ID for $38K. The closest I could find in CO for a similar truck was $46K and up.
I don't want to be treated like a king, I just want these guys to do their jobs. I didn't expect any special service, but I wasn't looking for condensention or apathy. I'm a pilot and work with professional mechanics who take pride in their work every day. That's not what I ran into at the dealership. Also the mechanics who work on my airplane at least would know if there is a dipstick for the transmission. Especially when there are a number of 2500s in the general vicinity with their hoods up.
Also, I do expect Ram to take responsibility for the parts that go into their trucks, the manner in which their assembled and the techs who maintain the vehicles.
As far as the truck goes the light came bake on at about 100 miles after I had it cleared and now it is getting stuck in random gears. Yesterday it stayed in 4th for the entire drive home. (the PRND said 4th as if I locked it in with the manual shift on lever.). I'm glad I didn't load up my family and dogs and attemtp the drive across the Rockies.
Loaders are not available at the dealerships and rentals don't allow towing.
As far as this summer I don't know. Right now I don't trust the truck. We have another camping trip planned for the end of July that is only a few hours away. But I'm going to have to put some miles on it before I load up family with 2 young children, 3 labs and a camper.
I also know it's a **** shoot no matter which manufacturer. I know good and bad examples of all three. But I like camping and I need a truck for my other business, I have a firearms school and range. So what are you going to do?
You nut up and buy a truck and warranty because it's got 20+ computers that are very expensive but don't do anything except stop the truck when they break. This truck doesn't tow any better or get better mileage than a V10 2500 did 20 years ago.
