I have had the same experience you had with our whole house MSW inverter, only thing that really indicated an issue with the power supplied was our microwave. Not a big deal at the time since I use our onboard genny to run high amperage items anyway.
I decided to go with a dedicated inverter for our entertainment center since those were the items most often powered via inverter. Went with a 300 watt Samlex PSW inverter and it works great powering our HDTV, HD satellite, Xbox, Bose, and charging various portable electronics.
