More battery basics.

Good Day, I have a few questions

Is it better for a deep cycle camper battery to be kept in a constant state of fully charged using a better tender, or better to let the battery slowly drain low, then recharge?

How does one hook a charger up to camper batteries? Is the best method for my camper (a lance 950) to be plugged into shore power, battery switch off, then plug the tender into a 120 camper receptical...then attach the tender clips to the two battery posts that all the electrical is fastened to?

I leave my trailer plugged in 24/7 when at home. I check the battery water about once a month and rarely have to add water. I do not use a battery maintainer other than the WFCO WF-8955PEC converter that is in my trailer. No problems with the battery.

Just noticed I posted in the wrong forum.

Leaving your batteries plugged in does not overcharge them and shorten their life expectancy?

X2 with the same converter! On six years with the batteries and going strong.

  • The average RV battery is best kept at full charge. Most should not be discharged below 50%.

  • a battery tender is great, keeps things on the ready, in the fall I hook my tender up and don,t take it off till spring.
  • I wouldn't plug in the charger until it is hooked to the batteries.
