More corner rot!!!

My old 1998 Palomino Bronco just keeps handing me fun projects...

Three of the four corners have rotted out over the years. I just removed the camper from the truck and I see the fourth and last corner is rotted...

I started welding up some stainless steel to form a corner and tie everything together like I did on the passenger side. But then my TIG welder ran out of gas...Ugh!

Here is how I fixed the other corner:

And the two rear corners:

I'll never buy a wood frame RV again....But then again, this one only cost me $1500 so I'm still way ahead for all the enjoyment and "projects" it's brought me!
  • Must be nice to be able to whip such equipment out when you want and have the knowledge to use it.

"I had some nice 3/16 stainless steel s**** hanging around so I whipped out the plasma cutter and the TIG welder and made up this support plate."
  • Good catch, and nice repair! The curb side rear tiedown loop on mine wasn't rotted - just looked "abused", so I added a 10" steel mending strap to the inside.
  • This repair will need to be done externally, like the rear corners. There is 1.5 X 1.5 strapping in the corners in this area and they are wet and rotted. The side walls are in perfect shape so they will support the weight.

Holes need to be drilled and then mounted up........
