You must have lived on the slow side of town or maybe it was the brand you were smoking back then. I guess you never ran against the chrysler 440 's or the Ford 428 cobra jets. The 454 was then and still is a dog of a motor.
Yes the vehicles listed above had 440's and 428's... That 454 dusted them including some Chevelles with some modified small blocks. I never ran a 426 Hemi, but we do know the Hellcat Challenger is faster.
That particular 454 had high compression and solid lifters from the factory. The only factory car that I remember that could really compete was a Buick GNX 455.
