I would definitely go gas. I would go with a newer 8.1L and appropriate trans. and wiring, this will last a long time! they make kits and you can send the harness in with the pcm and have the harness reworked so it is just a plug and play and 3 wire hookup and they will flash the pcm to use only the needed items and remove the theft feature.
