I do work at a Ford dealership and want to relay some info we received BEFORE the Ecoboost was introduced in the F150 truck.
Ford knew there would be confusion/disbelief/misunderstanding/etc of this engine.
To make the folks who would be selling these understand them they explained it this simply..."think of it as a small V6 diesel that happens to run on regular GAS"
If you think in that context, most will admit the Ecoboost has the atributes of a smalll dispalcement diesel, however the naysayers will probably have a field day picking this analogy apart..:W
Also I remeber somewhere in the advance info material they had said that because of the extremely contolled fueling and timing, high compression, and a few other things...That "once running" this engine did not really need spark plugs..i,e. kinda like a diesel.
That info was printed somewhere so I am sure someone could find it if they really looked for it, I am not going to bother though.:W
