Fish,
That is a great test but you and Ford are missing the most important part of that test.
The Ram loses 45 seconds to the Ford up that hill out of a 700 mile range. What is the Fords range pulling that trailer. I am willing to bet that the Ford will make many more fuel stops over 700 miles while pulling that trailer..
As far as merging into freeway traffic. It appears that the Ford is hampered by turbo lag in comparison to the Ram.
As to the fact that you may have to stop every 200 miles to urinate. You may want to talk to your urologist. I have made it from Yellowstone to California's central valley in 3 stops. One stop in Jackpot Nv. and one in Tonopah one at Stovepipe Wells. I am 64 years old. And I have no doubt most drivers can do the same.
Ford didn't have to wait for the EPA to release FE up that hill in that test. They could have been brave and bold and released the results on their own. They managed to release the hill climb times. :E
As I said I am looking for a exclusive tow vehicle so none of these half tons will do. Not even a 3/4 ton.
But I am careful to separate my needs from those of others. If you have a wife and 4 kids you do need something like a pickup to get around. So these trucks are a great solution that handles a few hauling needs even for those that don't tow.
But don't lose site of the fact that a common cry around here is, Whatever camper you buy now will end up being to small. So buy your vehicle accordingly.
