Mounting a backup camera

I bought a two camera system. One for the back of the truck, one for the back of the trailer. Without drilling into the tailgate, or using magnets, the only way I see to mount the camera would be just to the right of the top of the license plate (I mean next to the top of the plate.) I will try it with double back tape first. But just wanted to ask of those who have been there, done that, if that location is high enough to see the hitch well, and will being off center make it difficult to judge when aligning the truck and hitch?

Thanks. 2016 Ram 1500
  • I added one from Amazon to my truck for easier hitching up. It's at the top of the licence plate and works very well.
  • we have the factory back up camera, its in the handle for the tailgate almost centered. if you want to use it to line up for trailer hook up, you want it high and centered
I wish I could put one on the trailer that came through onto the factory screen!
  • Try cheap tape, clothespins, C clamps etc. and see if you like the view.
