Mounting things to the walls

Thinking about adding a few things to the walls in the camper we bought. Mostly thinking fire extinguishers as I would like one closer to the kitchen and one in the cabover section. I would like to mount them to a wall, but don't want to end up with stripped holes and the paneling is super thin and not dense.

Tips, ideas, key learning?

With a fire extingisher I would mount it on a wall stud only as the dynamic weight could be significant as you bounce down the road.

A stud finder is your friend. But one of the first things I do is: On a cool morning take pictures of the condensation patterns on the outside as this is a very good indication of the stud locations.

Cool tip on looking from the outside.

  • I'm glad you asked this. I'm quite new to campers and am going to be doing the same thing. I'll be keeping an eye on the replies.
