Movin' on up to a new Dually!

Picked her up on 2 days ago. 2014 Ram 3500 4x4 drw with the 6.4 Hemi and 6667 lbs. of payload. It is replacing my 2011 Ford 4x4 F350 srw regular cab with the 6.2. The Ford was a great truck but when I bought a bigger camper with a slide out I wanted more truck. Just waiting for my tiedowns to come so I can mount the Lance.

  • Congrats on the truck! When is the first trip?

My 2012 has a 35 gallon OEM tank.
  • Well.... I "guess" it's OK! :h for a Ram! (snicker, snicker)

    (Chevy guy here you know).

Congrats! Enjoy! and hope you have many, many happy miles on the road. Looks nice! You just gotta' love those 3500 dully's, no matter who makes 'em! We're in a "special league of our own, you know"! (dully drivers that is!)

Edit: I just noticed your photo. Are you going to have running boards put on it. We had running boards put on our's by the dealer. That was part of the bargaining package. That step has been priceless because the floor of mine is so far up from the ground. I then had knee surgery and even with the running board, it was almost impossible for me to get in the truck. Knee is better now, but still a little challenge, even with the running board. Just wondering?
  • Nice truck RZAR66 - what is the trailer rating ( GCWR )?
  • Bedlam is right. Although we do plan to tow in the future it won't be much, probably tow a side by side. My previous Ford was a gasser and I was never short of power in any situation hauling a TC, even in the mountains. The truck will also be somewhat of a daily driver for my really short commute to work. Lots of short trips unloaded is not the best for a Diesel engine and it emissions equipment. Also the price was right. The truck I bought was sitting on the dealers lot for 8 months for obvious reasons and they had another one exactly like it (one vin number off). I saw their desperation and took advantage of it. They just about gave it to me.

The Gas tank I believe is 32 gals. which is a little disappointing because my Ford had a 35 gal tank.
  • If you're not towing behind the TC, there's no reason to take up payload capacity with a heavier more expensive diesel.
  • same question here. why gas instead of diesel. I have been looking also. just can't make up my mind yet.
